(1939) 73 years ago Murmansk State Dry Cargo and Passenger Shipping Company was established.

September, 30

(1942) 70 years ago in Barents sea the vessel “Sukhona” of Murmansk State shipping company was torpedoed.

October, 28

(1992) 20 years ago the nuclear-powered icebreaker “Yamal” was included to “Murmansk Shipping Company” and USSR State Flag was hoisted on board. In August 2008 in accordance with the government’s decision the icebreaker was passed to the management of Federal State Enterprise «Atomflot».

November, 1st

(1942) 70 years ago the ship «Schors» of Murmansk State Shipping Company was mined and sank in Yugorsky Strait.

November, 13

(1982) 30 year ago the national flag was hoisted on board motor vessel «Norilsk» which headed up the series of multi-purpose icebreaker-carrier built in Finland.

December, 5th

(1957) 55 years ago the first nuclear-powered icebreaker "Lenin" was launched at «Admiral Shipyard» in Leningrad and included to Murmansk Shipping Company. In August 2008 in accordance with the government’s decision the icebreaker was passed to the management of Federal State Enterprise «Atomflot».

December, 17

(1932) 80 years ago in accordance with the decree of USSR Council of People's Commissars the Chief Directorate of the Northern Sea Route  was established. Its purpose was to finish a passage from the White Sea to Bering strait, to equip this route, to maintain it for safety navigation.

(1972) 40 years ago the nuclear-powered icebreaker «Artika» was launched in Leningrad at Baltic Shipyard and was included to Murmansk Shipping Company August 2008 in accordance with the government’s decision the icebreaker was passed to the management of Federal State Enterprise «Atomflot».

(1977) 35 years ago the national flag was hoisted on board the passenger vessel «Klavdija Elanskaja» of Murmansk Shipping Company.  

January, 1st

(1968) 45 years ago the captain of motor vessel «Leonid Leonidov» R.B. Igritsky was awarded with a Canadian prize «Golden-headed Cane»

(1978) 35 years ago the national flag of the USSR was hoisted on the nuclear-powered  icebreaker "Sibir" which was included to the fleet of Murmansk Shipping Company. (1918) T.B. Guzhenko was born. He was a hero of Socialist Labour, an honored polar explorer, an honored worker of the Transport and Fleet of the Russian Federation, the USSR Minister of Merchant Marine in 1970–1986

(1938)  75 years ago the expedition of O.U.Shmidt with the «Yermak» icebreaker, icebreaking ships «Taimyr», «Murman» and motor ship «Murmanets» took off  from a floe  the polar explorers of the drifting ice station «NP-1» (I. Papanin, E. Krenkel, E. Fyodorov, P. Shirshov

(1988)  20 years ago on board the nuclear-powered icebreaker «Taimyr» the USSR state flag was hoisted and the vessel was included to the «Murmansk Shipping Company». In August 2008 in accordance with the government’s decision the icebreaker was passed to the management of Federal State Enterprise «Atomflot».

(1973) 40 years ago the diesel-electric ship "Ob" carried out an outstanding drifting in the Antarctica ice.

May, 1st

(1978) 35 years ago the nuclear icebreaker "Sibir"  with the icebreaker «Kapitan Sorokin» performed an icebreaking assistance for diesel-powered ships «Pavel Ponomoryev» and «Navarin» to Dudinka, starting a year-round navigation Murmansk – Dudinka – Murmansk

May, 25

(1978) 35 years ago the diesel-powered carrier "Kapitan Myshevskiy" of Far East Shipping Company and the nuclear icebreaker "Sibir" started the first high-latitude experimental arctic voyage from Murmansk to Magadan.

(1913) 100 years ago the Captain of Murmansk Shipping company Alexey Reutov was born. He was the author of the book «The pennant over the shelf», «Aside the fairway», his name was given to a bulkcarrier and to a tug of the port of Murmansk.

(1928) 85 years ago the icebreaker «Krasin» carried out a historical operation to rescue Italian high-latitude expedition  on board  the dirigible “Italy”  under the direction of Umberto Nobile

(1878) 135 years ago a polar expedition of the Swedish explorer A. E. Nordenskioeld on board «Vega» sailed from Goteborg. It was the first to make the whole length of the Northeast passage from the Atlantic to Pacific ocean spending winter in Kalyuchinskaya Guba. July, 20 (1879) «Vega» called at Bering Straits, so it took one year for the whole voyage via the Northeast passage

(1933) 80 years ago in Murmansk  the ship «Chelyuskin» started a voyage via Northern Sea Route under the direction of the captain V. Voronin. The expedition was headed by O.Shmidt.

(2008) 5 years ago the state flag was hoisted on board the motor vessel «Zapolyarye».

(2008) the representatives of Federal Agency for State Property Management of Murmansk region, JSC «Murmansk Shipping Company» and Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Atomflot» signed relevant acts concerning  redelivering of nuclear-powered vessels from the management of  JSC «Murmansk Shipping Company» to the Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Atomflot».

(1948) 65 years ago captain V.V. Kislyakov of «Murmansk Shipping Company» was born. Now he retired and lives in Borovicni.

(1978) 35 years ago the USSR State flag was hoisted on board the motor vessel «Petr Velikiy».

(1958) 55 year ago director of the   Navigation Safety Department Mr. V. Ermolin was born.

(1913) 110 year ago a famous arctic captain  Dmitriy Nikolaevich Chukhchin was born. His name was given to a vessel of «Murmansk Shipping Company»
