On the February, 26 the icebreaker «Vladimir Ignatyuk» of JSC «Murmansk Shipping Company», finished the voyage in the Antarctica in the season of 2012-2013

The second year the icebreaker took part in the work of American explorers of Antarctica in the region of McMurdo station (the Ross sea).

The task received from the American company "National Science Foundation" was to prepare a lead in the fast ice for the safety sailing of the following vessels: the tanker Maersk Peary (length 166 m, width 23 m), the container ship   Ocean Giant (length 168 m, width 22 m) and US research vessel Nathaniel B. Palmer, which arrived to the station to deliver fuel and general cargoes.

 The icebreaker provided safety unloading assistance of ships at berth, cleaning the Winter Quarter Bay from ice, mooring assistance to vessels being a tug during unmooring.

 Based on the results of the work the American side emphasized on the high professionalism of the Russian crew in the performance of their duties and goals. All works were carried out in the normal mode without any incidents.
